2.50 – First Date

“The park?”

“Yes, the park. It’s where I proposed to you, so it’s perfect.”

“And the fact that it’s the only place in town…”

“…is neither here nor there, thank you very much,” Malik said, laughing. It might be the truth, but he would have chosen it regardless.

“You know, most people start dating before they get married, love,” Lor said, smiling at his husband. He could see that his expression was ridiculously sappy from the reflection in Malik’s glasses, but he couldn’t bring himself to care. He was in love.

“Well, we’re hardly traditional to begin with, are we? Now, what should we do? I’ve never actually been on a date before.”

“Neither have I,” Lor admitted. They sat there in a comfortable silence, trying to think of something date-like to do. His brain wasn’t being very helpful – it kept playing the same few lines of a song he’d heard on the radio. Again, and again, and again.

He wasn’t even sure he liked the plumming song. If only he could remember what it was called…

AHA!

“Kiss me,” Lor grinned proudly. He knew he’d remember eventually.

“Thought you’d never ask.”

Well, he was becoming fonder of that song each moment.

*cheering and clapping*

“Lor, why is everyone you work with so weird?”

Awww… you’re too kind~

Lor shook the water out of his hair, droplets flying in every direction. He grinned over at the slightly blurry figure that was his husband. It was a shame he couldn’t wear glasses in the water, really – a view like this deserved 20/20 vision.

“Lor, stop it.”

“Stop what?”

“That! Looking at me like I’m some sort of…”

“Masterpiece?”Lor suggested.

“I was going to say food,” Mal grinned. “I’m half afraid you’re going to eat me.”

“I’d miss you too much when you were gone. There’s no way I’d eat you.”

“That’s… actually really sweet.”

“Well, don’t go getting any ideas. I’d rather not be eaten either, if it’s all the same to you,” he said, moving closer. “There, now I can see you properly. Just as beautiful as ever.”

“Charmer.”

“You love it.”
