“Remember, if it doesn’t happen by tomorrow you’re out of the running.”
Leo grinned at her as she swanned past him. “Have you seen him? He’s going to pop tonight, trust me.”
“20 simoleons says you’re wrong~” Shea sang. “You’re gonna join Ly in the loser pit in the morning and you know it.”
“I wouldn’t bet on it.”
“Ah, but you did,” she said, giggling. “20 whole simoleons~”
Leo shooed her back towards the house. If he knew his papa at all, it was going to be tonight – the man was impatient where cute babies were concerned.
“Get a room, you two!”
Malik pulled back from Lor just enough to glare at his son. Leo just waved at him, waggling his fingers playfully.
“Are we sure he’s a grown up?” Mal asked as Lor tugged him closer again.
Never mind. There were far more important things to think about.
Lyra is the official ‘test-the-latest-build-of-Mal’s-VR-system’ person, and she’s loving every minute of it.
“Goodnight, Steve.” “Goodnight.”
Steve has his own house on the lot, now. It’s got all the necessities and a huge collection area.
A very nature based bedroom. He loves the outdoors, after all.
“I’m pretty sure you’re gonna lose, Leo.”
“You’re supposed to be on my side! What happened to twin solidarity?”
“It went away when you decided to tell me I was in the ‘loser pit’.”
Lyra yawned, stretching up and back until her shoulders popped. She opened an eye just in time to see her twin flinch. She giggled.
“You’re such a wuss.”
“No, I just think that if your body starts clunking it means you should stop doing the thing.”
“Stopping is for wusses.”
They sat and looked out at the sky, comfortably silent. The new house was strange, but Lyra had to admit that it was beautiful. She could see Ellie’s house from here, and she knew that if she walked a little further along the balcony she would see Al’s.
“Shea’s not going to be the youngest, soon. Does that mean we can’t call her our baby sister anymore?”
“Leo, we called Al our baby brother even though he was older than us. Like that’s going to stop us.”
Leo smiled. “You’re right. You’re a loser, but you’re right.”
“Oi!” Lyra swatted at him and he ducked, laughing.
“Ugh, apparently I need to dress ‘smart casual’ for my first day. What even IS smart casual?”
“Ummm… a fancy shirt and jeans? I really don’t know.”
“Are you sure you’re ok with me taking the job at the bar? I mean, it was offered to you.”
“Yeah, I am. You always liked the ‘making drinks’ bit more than I did – I was better at drinking them.”
“And making pretty fires.” “That too.”
No room for the twins – until their house is done they’re living in tents. They were sweet enough to let Lor have the builders first for renovations.
“Mal? The baby’s coming.”
Dude, you know how this goes. You really don’t need to panic so much.
Looks like Lor forgot how much giving birth hurts.
It’s a boy! ❤
Look at Mal, all proud. He knows that Lor is happiest with a baby to look after.
Meet Phoenix Centauri ❤
“I love you.” “I love you, too.”
Honestly, Mal. You’re just as much of a sap as your husband and you know it.
Steve is browsing the parenting forums – babies are a mystery to him. He found another life form in his morning scan, so he knows what’s happened.
Shea hasn’t left her room yet, so she has no clue that she has joined Ly in the loser pit. Or that she has a baby brother, which is obviously far more important. Yeah…
“You’re pretty cute, you know? Don’t tell anyone I said that, ok?”
“Guys? Get your butts over here, we have a new brother!”
Leo is as happy as a clam. Phoenix seems to feel the same way!
“I’m here! What’s he like?”
Dayum, Ly – when you invite everyone, you really invite EVERYONE.
So much happiness in one picture ❤ Phoenix is going to be spoilt rotten, you can just tell.
Look at Yari! She’s got to be second or third trimester with a bump like that.
Steve doesn’t understand, but he’s just happy to be included.
Moving out doesn’t add distance to this family. They’re as close as ever.
“If you’d like some of Al’s baby things for the nooboo, I can have them sent around.” “Thanks, Lor. That’d be lovely.”
Leo, you have a perfectly good kitchen in the main house, stop stealing Steve’s.
He’s going to serve Tofu Tacos to everyone, so I guess we can forgive him.
“Aren’t you going to get dressed, Shea?” “Two words, dad. Pot. Kettle.” “Fair enough.”
Look at Al! Married life definitely agrees with him. Where’s Yari, though?
Ah. Poor lass has morning sickness.
This is the science roof. The science lab is in the greenhouse on top of the main house. Lor is a believer of hiding things in plain sight, and that includes possibly-illegal portals to alien worlds.
“So, when am I going to be an uncle?”
People have food – Leo’s work here is done.
Here we see the difference between a foodie and a glutton.
The house might have changed, but the people inside it are the same as ever.
This is our family, and life is beautiful.
A/N I wasn’t sure what style I wanted to go with for this chapter, so it’s a bit of a mix. Welcome to the family, Phoenix!
Also, I finally finished the house renovation! The old house was very Lissi and Morgan, whereas this one is Lor and Mal completely. Lor has the sleek, elegant lines and the big airy windows, and Mal has the lovely details and warm colours. The living room and garden are pretty much a paradise for little ones. I’ll be putting a full tour up on my building blog soon, so keep your eyes open for that! ❤
