2.18 – A Family Effort

“I’m just worried that the pollination teams will give up soon. I mean, five failed attempts is quite a few.”

Lor was trying to remain positive, but the constant negatives on the pregnancy efforts were starting to take a toll. It had been almost a year since he’d come to terms with the first failure – he’d learnt that it was better not to get his hopes too high anymore.

“They seem to be taking an unusual amount of interest in you, to be honest. If they’ve made you into a special project, I don’t think they’ll give up yet. They certainly wouldn’t have when your grandma was a technician.”

“Thanks, mama. I’m going to get ready for work.”

“Oh! I wrote down the recipe that Cassie wanted and left it on the table by the door. Could you take it with you?”

“Sure.” He bent down and kissed the top of her head before walking out of the dining room.

Inhale… and exhale.

It was always quiet in the mornings, and Lissa loved it. It gave her time to concentrate on herself and just forget about the garden, or the cooking that needed to be done. The post arrived just as she was finishing her final routine, and she carefully returned to a standing position. Hopefully it was there, this time.

She opened the letterbox, and let out a joyful squeal. Finally.

“So, what is it actually meant to do?” Morgan asked as Lissa worked her hands in precise motions into the muscles of her feet.

“It’s meant to increase the hormones related to fertility and boost blood circulation in the reproductive system. I know it’s mostly for ovulation and things, but as he’s hoping to get pregnant I’m hoping it will work in a similar way and help the pollination be successful.”

02.18 SS04

“I hope so too, Lissi. I sound like my father when I say this, but I really would like to meet my grandkids soon.”

Lissa laughed, moving her hands to the other foot. “So would I, love.”

“What I don’t understand is why you are massaging my feet.”

“I’m getting my hands warmed up. I haven’t done this in a while and I want to be in top form.”

02.18 SS05

“Well, you’re in top form from where I can see. Especially in those shorts” Morgan said, winking over at her wife.

“Hush, you. I’m going to wash my hands and then we’ll do a hand massage, ok?”

“You spoil me, star girl.”

“I do love you, you know.”

Lissa looked up from her work, her gaze warm. “I love you, too. Right, are you ready for a full body massage.”

“It depends – is that an innuendo or do you mean and actual full body massage.” she said, wiggling her eyebrows suggestively.

It hadn’t been an innuendo, but the idea did have merit. There was time for a distraction.

Morgan finished watering the garden whilst Lissa was in the shower. It was the least she could do. Besides, she thought, rolling her shoulders back to release the tension that had built, she was going to get her actual massage soon. Her mind wandered back to the previous hour, and she found herself standing in front of the television with a goofy smile on her face, daydreaming the time away until Lissa would reappear.

Hands slipped over her eyes, and a voice whispered in her ear. “Boo!”

Morgan started to turn and was swept into her wife’s arms.

02.18 SS09

“So, are you ready for that massage?”

“Definitely.”

“Mama? What’s all this for?”

“I’ve been doing some research, and there’s a special type of massage that might help you conceive. So I tracked it down.”

“Seriously? Thank you so much.”

02.18 SS12

“It’s no problem. I told you that we were all in this with you. I’d always imagined that you would find a partner before having children, but this family isn’t exactly the most traditional to begin with. One more break from custom hardly makes a difference. So, are you ready to try?”

02.18 SS13

“I’ll quickly change out of this uniform, then I’ll be right out.”

“And, we’re done. We’ll do this every evening until your next abduction, just to make sure it has the best chance of working.”

02.18 SS19

“Love you, mama.”

“Ahem”.

Lor turned to Morgan, grinning. “I love you too, mum.”

02.18 SS21

“Now,” she said, eyes sparkling with mischief, “who wants to help me set off fireworks to attract the attention of the IFOs?”

02.18 SS20

“IFOs?”

“Well, yeah. We’ve identified them.”

“I can’t argue with that logic.”

“Momo, love, please don’t do the fireworks. You might make them crash, and then we’ll have to deal with the Space Attorneys. Maybe even Griffin Lefte. He’s the worst of them all.”

“Fine… sparklers?”

“Go for it.”

BONUS DRAWING (Because I couldn’t resist and was feeling creative)

Space Attorney

(I used a few different game sprites combined as reference for the pose, and then Sims/Alien-ed the whole thing! The alien suit is difficult to draw at this angle!)

    • Thank you! 🙂 I was actually a star trek fan-artist on tumblr for a couple of years before I started doing simlit (though I’m not on tumblr anymore). Writing is my main love, but art is well up there in the list too!
